Colour Vision Test & Colourblindness

About 1 in 12 males are affected by colour vision deficiency (CVD) - it is a quite common condition. Globally that's roughly equal to the entire population of the United States.

There are multiple types of CVD, as well as different levels of severity. Usually colour vision deficiency is mistakenly refered as colourblindess (while total colourblindess - seeing only black and white colors - is very rare).

Most colour vision deficient people have red-green type CVD and experience difficulty distinguishing yellow, orange, red, green and brown - roughly all shades of colours except for blue and violet. At times, this can make it difficult to perform certain tasks that involve colours.

Colour Vision Deficiency occurs when the wavelength sensitivities of particular photo receptor cells in the eye overlap more than they should - this increased overlap causes many colours to be indistinguishable from one another.

Before the test:

You can take the test with transparent prescription glasses, however please take off any tinted optics or sunglasses to ensure good vision.

Try to find a testing spot with constant, natural light without any fluorescent lighting. 

Reset your computer display to the default lighting and turn off night mode. 

The testing process:

Both testing phases need to be completed. These will take approximately 5 minutes. Some parts of these tests might be more challenging than others, this is totally normal.

Colour Vision Test:

Simply follow the steps described throughout the test and perform the test in 5 minutes.


After finishing the test, the result will be seen immediately. We can even send it to the given email address.

If you received both deutan and protan test results, please re-take the test and make sure that the person performing the calibration has normal color vision.
Please also make sure you take off any tinted optics or sunglasses to ensure good vision.

Try to choose a testing spot with constant, natural light without any fluorescent lighting. 

Reset your computer display to the default lighting and turn off night mode. 

Our testing solution was developed and standardised by our R&D team in a controlled testing environment, as a result of dozens of examinations performed by regular and colour vision deficient participants.

Given the subjective nature of vision testing, the results can vary but should remain constant in the same lighting environment and with the same level of concentration by test participants.

Testing the eyewear on our online diagnostic tests will not work as they are designed specifically for diagnostic purposes. If you'd like to experience the difference our lenses can make visit our Colour Up page. The best measure of success however is if you use the glasses during your usual activities and see the difference between more colours. 

As a rule of thumb our eyewear works well for 80% of people with red-green colour vision deficiency. Our long term study confirms that colour vision performance can improve over time when using the eyewear regularly (for at least 30 minutes daily over several weeks).

Our Products

Currently we only have solutions for red-green type colour vision deficiencies.

Our eyewear works best for people with modearate to strong red-green colour vision deficiency - around 80% of red-green colour deficient people fall into this category. Our long term study confirms that colour vision performance can improve over time when using the eyewear regularly.

If you have total colour blindness and can't see colours at all, our lenses will not work for you unfortunately.

Our 3-in-1 eyewear set collection with magnetic clip-ons was created especially for prescription wearers or people who are often exposed to harmful blue-light coming from computer screens and digital devices.

Our glasses are not yet available with prescription lenses online. 

However, we designed the functional 3-in-1 magnetic clip-on collection for present (and future) prescription wearers in mind. It gives you the option to get the blue-light-filtering LuxBlue lenses in the base frame changed to your choice of prescription lenses. (Please keep in mind, that changing the lenses will result in your warranty being void.)

If you wish to do so, please visit your local optician, who will be able to assist you. Alternatively, you can visit one of our Authorised COLORON Retailers for prescription options.

All COLORON optics come with 100% UV protection.

Our LuxBlue lenses (the bases lenses in our 3-in-1 eyewear sets) offer blue-light protection.

All COLORON frames are made in Italy.  We handpick and collaborate with reknown Italian eyewear manufacturers that come with decades of experience in the eyewear industry to create eyewear with the highest quality standards.

Our frames are made from high-quality materials like Swiss Grilamid TR-90®, plant-based acetate or stainless steel. 

On each product page you will find a detailed sizing guide where you can see the measurements of our frames. 

You can measure your face according to the listed instructions or simply check the size of your current frames (you can find these on the inside of the temples).

Gift cards are available for purchase on our website in different amounts. We have a selection of designs for different occasions to make the gifting experience more personalised. 

We offer digital gift cards that you will receive via email after purchase that you can either print out yourself or forward it directly to your loved one. They can redeem the gift card by entering the unique gift card number during the payment process.

After selecting and placing the item into your cart on the webshop, you can apply the gift card number (written on the e-gift card) in the GIFT CERTIFICATE CODE box at the bottom of the shopping cart page. The amount of the gift card will be deducted from the final price automatically.

You can not redeem the amount of the gift card partially, but we set the available gift card amounts in correlation with our product prices.  COLORON e-Gift cards can be used as a partial form of payment for an item.

Unfortunately we do not ship to the following territories of EU member states:

Orders placed before 12 PM CET Monday - Friday*, excluding holidays, will be delivered in 3-7 working days with GLS or Fedex.

*Any order placed after the current business day cutoff, will ship the following business day.

We provide standard shipping option in the European Union.

We strive to do our best in meeting all requested delivery times but as we are depending on our various suppliers and delivery partners, our delivery times are only estimations and not guaranteed. If you need your order to be delivered before a specific date, please contact our Customer Service Team before placing an order.

We use various trusted delivery companies to ensure you receive the best service possible. Our companies send personalised emails directly to you advising of the time and date of your delivery to ensure that your parcel is delivered safe and sound in the shortest time possible.


We use various providers depending on how time-sensitive your order is. Our main provider is Fedex.


To ensure you receive the best service, we use GLS.

All orders can be tracked through your online account. After logging in, you can also review your past orders and check your order status. Once your order has been dispatched, we will provide you with the tracking number for your shipment via email.

If you belive you made a mistake (e.g. entered an incorrect address), please get in touch immediately with our Customer Service Team at as we are only able to make changes to the order until it is processed. There is unfortunately no way make any adjustments once your order is dispatched.

Returns & Refunds

Your COLORON journey doesn’t end with you making a purchase! We want to make sure that you are completely satisfied with your eyewear. If for any reason you would like to return your glasses then you have a 60-day hassle-free money back guarantee for any eyewear purchased directly through

Eyewear may be returned within 60 days of the order date for a full refund. Please note that we are not able to cover the cost of return shipping for international orders.

A credit will be issued in the form of  the original transaction (expect at Hungary, if you chose payment upon delivery option. In this case, we will transfer the amount to the bank account given in the digital return form.)

Please repack item carefully in its original condition and include all contents as they arrived. If the item is damaged or incomplete, the returned item may not be accepted.

STEP 1: To initiate a return, please fill out our Return Form. Please make a note of the return ID number you get after submission.

STEP 2: Write the return ID number on the delivery note that came in the box with your order.

STEP 3: Repack the item carefully including all components. Make sure the eyewear is in its original case and include the delivery note with your return ID number.

STEP 4: Ship the eyewear in its original packaging or other padded box and mail to the returns address provided by our customer services team. 

STEP 5: Once your package is received, we will process your refund in maximum 10 working days.  You will be contacted via email if there are any issues.

STEP 6: After this period, your refund will be credited back to your original method of payment (Paypal). *If you chose cash on delivery option for the original order (Hungary), we will place the credit onto the given bank account in the digital return form. Once your refund has been processed, it might take up to 10 business days for your bank to process the credit and apply it to your account.

Please note that we DO NOT refund any original delivery costs you paid for your eyewear.

Once your returned item is received, we will process refund in maximum 10 working days. 

Your refund will be credited back to your original method of payment (expect at Hungary, if you chose payment upon delivery option. In this case we will transfer the amount to the bank account given in the digital return form).

Once your refund has been processed it can take up to 10 business days for your bank to process the credit and apply it to your account.

Warranty conditions

All our eyewear comes with a warranty. We believe in our products and their ability to give you the best colour vision experience. We offer a 2-year warranty on all of our products from the date of purchase!
