Supporting colour vision with filter lens technology
What causes colour blindness?
Colour vision – what our brain perceives – is generated in the eye by a mixture of signals from the blue, green, and red photoreceptors. The image shows a simplified representation of how these receptors respond to different parts of the colour spectrum.
In the case of red-green colour blindness – medically referred to as colour vision deficiency – the sensitivity of the red (protan) or green (deutan) photoreceptors is shifted towards each other.
This shift causes overlapping signals, making it difficult to distinguish between certain colours, especially along the red–green spectrum.
3 severity levels: mild, moderate and severe
When the green cone’s sensitivity shifts toward the red cone, we refer to this as a deutan condition. If the overlap is partial, it’s classified as mild or moderate deuteranomaly; if the sensitivity is almost completely overlapping the red zone, it becomes severe deutan, also known as deuteranopia.
Similarly, when the red cone’s sensitivity shifts toward the green cone, the condition is called protan. A partial shift results in mild or moderate protanomaly, while a more significant overlap – where the red cone’s function is nearly lost – is referred to as severe protan, or protanopia.
How filter lenses support
Let’s see what happens when a person with moderate deutan condition puts on the filter lenses. Each COLORON lens was developed to filter out the overlapping zone with a special spectrum cut.
As you wear these lenses, your brain begins to adapt to the modified spectrum. Depending on your type of colour vision deficiency, you may experience enhanced colour differentiation and/or improved colour perception. Be sure to allow time for adaptation: always keep the eyewear on for at least 5 minutes.
For the best results: train your brain
Always adapt: Wait at least 5 minutes, and don’t tilt or remove the eyewear.
Use frequently: Practice 1–2 hours a day. It usually takes 2–3 weeks to maximise performance.

What will your experience be like?
Describing colours is subjective, even for those with normal colour vision. To provide the best answer to this question, we gathered some feedback from our customers. Take a look at what they have to say about their experiences with the COLORON lenses:

What If Nothing Seems Different?
Don’t worry, we have some tips for you! Make sure that you wait for the 5-10 minutes adaptation time after you put on your eyewear (even when changing tinted lenses). Do not remove or lift it! Try to use your eyewear more frequently and in different situations. It may take 2-3 weeks of practice and consistency to train your brain to achieve long-term adaptation.
If for any reason you would like to return your glasses, then you have a 60-day hassle-free money-back guarantee for any eyewear purchased directly through coloron.eu.
